It feels like you’ve never been here before… but deep down you know you’ve always been here. In this village, in these vast and unending woods, hazy and bright and warm. You’ve lived every hot summer here, tucked in snug through every freezing winter night when the moonlight cuts the cold air like a razor. The memories sit in your mind like the presence of a trusted friend standing just behind you out of sight, and if you try to turn, to see, you can catch a glimpse of them as if through fogged glass. You know every face, even if their names float just off the tip of your tongue like midsummer fireflies, but they know you and they smile and wave and say “good to see you” and it feels right. 

It feels like home. 

But deep down, you know it isn’t.
